Living in a tight-knit neighborhood definitely has it’s perks…and holiday get-togethers top the list! The neighbors of Plaza-Midwood (and Thomas Street residents, specifically) sent out an invite to all interested neighbors to come and create Christmas balls to decorate the streets with this holiday season.

Christmas balls, you say?

Here's a little history:
Last year, only a few homemade balls were sprinkled along Thomas Street and everyone asked, “Where did you find those?” or “How did you do that!?” to neighbors Julie and Brian (who brought the tradition to Thomas Street). It’s actually a tradition that started in Julie’s mom’s neighborhood in Greenville. Every year, ALL of the neighbors in the G'ville neighborhood hang their homemade holiday balls high in the trees and they light up the street for local tourists to come check out!

This year, Midwood friends wanted to share the spirit. Adorable invites were sent out that made you feel all warm and fuzzy inside for living in such an amazing neighborhood.
Bring: Yard gloves and strands of lights
Provided: Instructions on how to make, chicken wire, beer

It was a blast. Check out some of the fun:

Picnic tables were placed throughout the backyard to serve as our work-area. Young and old got involved.

The finished product was hung on a tree as an example of what each crafter was going for.

Yup, young and old. The ice (or maybe it was the beer) was the main attraction for these tots.

Neighborly love.

Ta-da!!!

Many thanks to:
Julie and Brian for hosting and sharing your knowledge
Zoe for getting Midwood pumped about the holiday's (looking forward to Fri's tree lighting at Zada Janes!)
Thomas Street friends for letting us from the "other side" of The Plaza join in
Midwood for being such a great neighborhood for my family
