Mother's Day is coming!

Is it ok, as a mother, to "remind" the world that Mother's Day is right around the corner? It sort of seems similar to announcing at the office, "My birthday is next week and I wear a size 8 shoe...just in case anyone wondered." (In case I'm catching you off-guard, Mom's Day is Sunday, May 9. Or, feel free to celebrate all week).

My excuse is that I want to let other mom's know how to make next weekend special with their children and their families and also to let any dad's out there know what may be on our minds. Plus, I'm thinking I'll email this post to my husband. (Wink).

I think Ellie is saying, "Happy First Mother's Day, Mommy!"

If you're looking for a special way to celebrate Mother's Day, head to Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden. Stroll through the gardens and explore spring flowers, pre-order a delish picnic to enjoy on the grounds and take the memories home with a family photo taken by a professional on-site photographer. You're welcome to bring your own lunch, too, if you'd prefer.  Plus, the first 500 mothers will receive a free potted plant. This event will take place on May 9 and 10 from 9am-3pm.

I also ran across a great local company called Little Miracles Baby Planning. For Moms-To-Be, this mother's day is just as special as all of those that are to follow. Little Miracles Baby Planning offers services ranging from getting the car seat properly installed in the car to incorporating the baby's needs into an eco-friendly lifestyle. They offer affordable, and customizable packages to prepare for baby's arrival. I sure wish I'd heard of them when my ankles were swollen and yet I was still walking back and forth from the laundry room washing "her" newborn clothes, diaper cloths, sheets, and stuffed animals. Yikes, those were some long nights and perhaps my husband would have been even more thankful for Little Miracles!

However you spend your Mother's Day, enjoy. Let someone else take out the trash and make sure you pack in lots of snuggle time with your kids...even if your kids are your pets. :)

Take a look at this face....how could I have a not have a perfect Mother's Day? It's impossible.

Happy Mother's Day!
